On instructions being given by the War A.0. 123 Office, a certificate to this effect will be rendered in 1919 respect of each officer by the commanding officer under continued. whom he served or, if impracticable, by a senior officer of his unit fully cognisant of his service. In the case of officers commanding units, and on the establishment of Coty and Group Headquarters, the certificate will be rendered by the County Commandant; in the case of the latter officer the certificate may be dispensed with.

4. The honorary rank accorded will be the rank which the officer concerned held on relinquishing his commission.

5. An officer who relinquished his volunteer com- mission on joining His Majesty's Forces for full time service will be eligible for honorary rank and the right to wear uniform under this Army Order, provided he has completed the necessary period of 6 months' qualifying service, but he will not be entitled to make use of the privilege until after the relinquishment of any commission which he may subsequently have held or after final discharge from such forces.

6. An officer resigning or relinquishing his com- mission on account of misconduct or by reason of an adverse report will not be eligible for the grant of honorary rank and the right to wear uniform.

7. In the case of an officer who relinquished his commission prior to the date of this Army Order and who is eligible for the distinction, notification of the grant of honorary rank and the right to wear uniform will appear in the London Gazette in due course, and in the case of an officer who subsequently relinquishes his commission, the requisite notification will appear in the same gazette as the announcement of such relinquishment,

8. Until further orders uniform may only be worn by an officer granted the privilege under this Army Order when he is employed in a military capacity or on ceremonial occasions of a military nature, in which case the letters V.R. will be worn on the collar of the service dress jacket below the collar badges.
